🍿Popcorn

I am a popcorn fan. I painted this oil on canvas board for my TV room.

Popcorn

What makes popcorn pop? Each kernel contains a small amount of moisture. As the kernel is heated, this water turns to steam. Popcorn differs from other grains in that the kernel’s shell is not water-permeable, so the steam cannot escape and pressure builds up until the kernel finally explodes, turning inside out. On average, a kernel will pop when it reaches a temperature of 347 degress Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Unpopped kernels are called “old maids” or “spinsters.”

🖼Art, a Museum and Sliders 🐢

It was a joyfully busy week. It ended with an alcohol ink of a photo of a cowboy at sunset.

Sunset on the Range

Wednesday, my friend Linda and I attended the exhibit in Santa Barbara  “Through Vincent’s Eyes”. It is so wonderful to visit art with another artist.

… on the way back to the parking structure there was a fountain with more turtles than I have ever seen in on place…delightful!

Also, on Friday, I finished another fiber flower. A great week indeed!

Weekend 🌊🌞En Plein Air & Some Fiber

Saturday, Steve Neill and I joined a group from Local Beach Artists to paint at Oxnard State Beach Park. It was a lovely afternoon and boy can 3 hours fly by. We are going to meet again next month at Heritage Square in Oxnard to paint at a Victorian-style venue.

I am still working on a smaller oil at the studio and I finished another small flower weaving. These small wall hangings are some much fun to weave.
